Spanish Writing

The following pieces were created as part of my Spanish courses I have taken for my Spanish minor while at Baylor University. Each piece is written fully in Spanish and dialogues with authentic Hispanic literary works. All essays have been edited for punctuation, spelling and grammar according to the Spanish language.

Ensayo de análisis literario: El etnógrafo - Jorge Luis Borges

This essay is a six-page literary analysis of a chosen Spanish work that I read as part of a class and offers an interpretation of the text using two external academic sources and MLA format. This essay was graded on its argument, organization and quality of written Spanish. Grade: 97

Reseña teatro: La casa de Bernarda Alba - Federico García Lorca

This essay is a three-page theater review of a Spanish script and its performance, comparing and contrasting the text with its representation. The review comments on the success of the performance and how it is achieved, the director's stylistic decisions and the effects of those decisions with respect to its success. This review is in MLA format and was graded on organization, grammar, formality of writing, elevated vocabulary and evaluation of the work. Grade: 95

SPA 3305 Ensayo final

This essay was the final exam for this Spanish course. It is a seven-page analysis of three chosen Spanish works and how they dialogue with a chosen theme. This essay draws thematic connections between all three texts, contrasts their differences and describes what each text suggests about the theme. This essay was written in MLA format and was graded on its argument, organization and grammar. Grade: 97

Presentación poética: "Walking Around" -
Pablo Neruda

This presentation is over a Chilean poet who wrote the poem "Walking Around." Though the title is in English, the poem is fully in Spanish. This presentation contains thematic and structural analysis of the poem. As part of the assignment, these PowerPoint slides had to be used in a dynamic presentation lasting 10 minutes. The presentation was given in Spanish, without a script. This piece was graded on content of analysis, coherence, fluency and organization. Grade: 97
