I wrote the following articles as part of several of my journalism, advertising and PR classes at Baylor University. I was challenged in each of these courses to write different communication pieces in a variety of formats. As part of each of the assignments and my own writing habits, I edited for content, grammar, punctuation and AP style. 

Department Exam Speech Story

This story was part of the Baylor Journalism Department exam. Every student must pass this exam to stay in the department. A guest speaker came, gave a 50 minute speech and we had 3 hours to write a story. 

Unbound Media Kit

This media kit was part of my PR writing course at Baylor. I worked with a nonprofit client throughout the semester. I wrote the news release, the Op-Ed and all content on the social media posts. I also created the designs. 

Op-Ed: My Opinion on Opinion 

This Op-Ed was written as part of my Reporting and Writing for the Media class at Baylor. We got to chose any topic to write about. This piece is about how opinion itself can be controversial. Therefore, an opinion piece is inevitably controversial. This piece anecdotally explores the effects of quick judgment on opinion. 

News Release|Pitch Letter

As part of my PR and Advertising course at Baylor, we had to create an idea for an event to be hosted by Baylor Health Services and write a news release and pitch letter for it. My idea was night laser tag on Fountain Mall.  

Ted Talk Speech Story

As part of my Reporting and Writing for the Media course, we wrote a speech story based on a Ted Talk about incivility, given by Christine Porath.

Web Writing News Story  

As part of my PR and Advertising course, my instructor had us take a newspaper article and condense it to fit web writing standards. The goal was to make the piece more visually appealing and better formatted for an online context. 

Act Locally Waco Blog Story

This piece is a feature of Megan Henderson, who at the time was the executive director at City Center Waco. This piece explores Henderson's career, company and life. 

Humane Society News Release

As part of my PR writing course, this piece was an exercise on news releases. This news release details the Humane Society's free adoption announcement.
